T R I V I A
Album name: For a
very short period before we really started to work on Eternal Curve we
gave the new project the working title of 'The Calm Before'!
Album artwork: This design concept for Eternal
Curve actually went quite a long way before we decided to develope the
idea that eventually became the artwork for the finished album. We felt
this look was a little too 'movie poster' and not NFaC enough. It's got
some nice ideas but I'm glad we didn't go with it.


Track list: The Ides of May was slated early
on as song-of-the-album and we wanted to put it first in contrast to the
way Impossibly Beautiful opens but in the end we felt this was not going
to work. I do like the idea of starting with something daring like that,
a really simple guitar and vocal from a band known for lush and dense
instrumentation. As it is the album starts with 'Century', an equally
daring move as it has such a long introduction, but a song we felt was
more representative of the album.
Song inclusion: We were really on a role
when we go stuck into writing this new album, so much so that we have
four or five songs that very nearly made the album. These songs even have
guest musicians whose work we really admire but for one reason or another
didn't make the final cut. This is not really to do with the strength
of an individual song but more to do with how it fits in as part of the
whole.
Production
styles: On Impossibly Beautiful we bottled out of giving 'How Glad
I am' a really banging house beat although that mix does exist somewhere.
However on EC we decided to go for it with 'Set on the Stars' as no other
feel was working and we both really liked it. We got around the issue
of its style by listing it as a bonus track. Cheeky.
Listen
hard : Listen hard and you can hear the click track at the end
of Ides, you'll need a very good pair of headphones and a quiet corner.
We decided to keep that take because we felt it was so good.
In 'This River' you can hear what sounds like a crowd of people. This
is actually a couple of builders who were working nearby, their work spilled
over onto the clay-drum track but we really like the feel it gave the
song.
