H E o R A I N
This song's narrative is so close to what actually happened that looking
at it again is almost like reading a diary. It is, of course, about hurt,
but it is also about the process of healing that often starts with its
expression. I would like to think it is heard as a song of hope while
still being complete and honestly transparent.
We wanted to reflect the simplicity of the concepts and the music in the
arrangement and had tried various things that weren't really working.
Kathie came to a session with her tambura, a four stringed instrument
from India, and we were so pleased with what she did and her beautiful
singing, it gave us the song back!
I have wanted to use the Fender Rhodes sound every singe I fell in love
with the song 'Roads' by Portishead. It gave us a full throbbing sound
that really supported the end of the track, giving me something to sing
those last few lines over. D.
THE RAIN by DANIEL GOODMAN
The
rain is falling over me,
Is running down my face,
Into my open hands
Times change,
I don't know what to say,
I don't know how to feel,
Can you heal me?
'Cos I need you to, My Lord
I need your healing hand so much
I need your healing hand so much
These times, like pages in the wind,
I cannot read them now,
My only hope is you,
Your voice, I hang on every word
I need to hear you now,
Can you hear me?
'Cos I need you to, My Lord
LISTEN
to a sample.
