W O R L D I had just finished reading the excellent 'An Artist of the Floating World' by Kazuo Ishiguro, which is partly about the bohemian nightlife of a Japanese artist after the second world war, a world not completely respectable, partly hidden between the night and the day. It got me thinking about how Christians live in one world but hope for the next, the near but not yet. It also recognises God as the source of all gifts; we are able to give because he first gave to us. I really wanted some songs on the album to break out of the usual 4/4 time signature, I like this groove, influenced by Peter Gabriel's 'Only us'. D. 2 THE FLOATING WORLD by DANIEL GOODMAN You see the artist in me So I turn towards Light Words form something to give I love with love given me I give you gift that's in me I know I'm in between now This floating world, the fragments I know Of your life and all that it means I wait for your light to come down I wait like I always will wait, for you Here now, all that you are I'm sure, I know I can come My life, held in your hand I love with love given me I give you the gift that's in me I wait for your Light to come down I wait like I always will wait, for you LISTEN to a sample.
