Q. What is your favourite NFaC song to play?

A. Do I have to choose? :-)

Q. What is your favourite NFaC song to listen to?
A. Currently a toss up between Vermeer's Astronomer and Loving You, from Late and Alone

Q. What was your favourite NFaC moment?
A. There have been so many. . . every gig is special, but perhaps our first "real" gig at St Paul's, Ealing stands out as the first great performance and the first moment when I thought -- hey, this is really happening!

Q. What music are you enjoying at the moment?
A. Mindy Smith's awesome debut album One Moment More, the famous Gabrieli Consort recording of Praetorius' Christmas Mass, some great Algerian rai from the Momo club in London, and Delhi-based Asian Electronic outfit Midival Punditz. .

Q. What was the best gig you ever went to?
A. I've always tended to be more of a performer than a gig-goer, but Paul Simon's tour to Australia around 1992 was pretty amazing (and I walked past the great man in a backstage corridoor. . . he's very short!)

Q. Where would you love to be right now?
A. Chilling in a town in India called Mussoorie, 8000 ft up in the foothills of the Himalayas with the most magnificent views.

Q. Preferences:

Indoors or outdoors?

Both
Sweet or savoury?
Both
A book or a movie?
Both :-)
What question do you wish you'd been asked? And what was the answer?
Q: If you could do anything at all in the world, money not an issue, what would you do?
A: Actually, I love what I'm doing right now, lecturing and researching world music at Cambridge. Three of my passions -- music, scholarship, people -- rolled into one.
