During A stay with my folks I picked up a copy of the The Nation's Favourite
Poems. For probably the first time in my life I appreciated fully the
depths and beauty found in the poet's pen. Just couldn't stop from each
page till the book was done and then at the next opportunity - a repetitive
guitar motif provided by Daniel - I started writing myself, feeling in
some way different from before
a bit freer, a bit more able to feel
and dream. The kick drum present all the way through the song gives a
sense of time drawing you through the dream towards the 'sweetness of
long eternal sun'. S.
HOW GLAD I AM by SUSIE BEATTIE AND DANIEL GOODMAN
How glad I am that you have come
As I rest in the quietness of my room
For
the day is dim and the colours cool
How glad I am that you have come
In the dying light of the day
I love your beauty, no hint of sadness
And with your presence all the shadows fade away
The promise and the sweetness of long eternal sun
All the cold of winter gone
The brilliance and beauty of the One I gaze upon
How glad I am that you have come
How glad I am that you have come to me regardless
Of the tired plight of my heart
I love your passion, I love your kindness
And in your eyes I find a light that won't depart
The promise and the sweetness of long eternal sun
All the cold of winter gone
The brilliance and beauty of the One I gaze upon
How glad I am that you have come
The promise and the sweetness of long eternal sun
All the cold of winter gone
The brilliance and beauty of the One I gaze upon
How glad I am that you have come
How glad I am that you have come
How glad I am that you have come
