Q. What is your favourite NFaC song to play?
A. The Western Reach
Q.
What is your favourite NFaC song to listen to?
A. The live version of Every Part Of Me, and the studio version of Faint.
Q.
What was your favourite NFaC moment?
A. Haven't had many yet, I'm a NFaC newbie. My first ever gig in London was a lot of fun, even though I hadn't a clue what I was doing!
Q.
What music are you enjoying at the moment?
A.
· Opeth - Ghost Reveries (Death Metal meets Acoustic Singer Songwriter stuff
with a massive Porcupine Tree influence)
· Dredg - El Cello (Powerful and Beautiful, think Duran Duran/Sigur
Ros/Tool/Radiohead.but sounding nothing like any of them!)
· DJ Spooky Vs Dave Lombardo - Drums Of Death (Think DJ Shadow meets Public
Enemy meets Slayer)
· J-Treole - Untitled? Demo (Local band from Bishops Stortford, Jazz with
Hip-Hop vocals. Hard to imagine this not becoming big sooner or later, it's
just so fresh and exciting)
· The Beatles - Abbey Road (This album is perfect. I can never get over how
beautiful "Because" is. Can't help but be inspired after listening to this
CD)
· Lamb - Lamb (It only hit me a few days ago how cool this album is! The
drum loops are stunning)
Q.
What was the best gig you ever went to?
A. Either Dream Theater covering Dark Side Of The Moon at the Hammersmith Apollo this October, or Porcupine Tree at The Junction in April.
Q.
Where would you love to be right now?
A. In a "Proper" Recording Studio, free to do whatever I want, with no time limits, or fee!
Q.
Preferences:
Indoors or outdoors?
I'm very much an indoor person. At the moment it's too
cold outside anyway!
Sweet or savoury?
Sweet. I have one of the most un-healthy diets ever.
A book or a movie?
Book. I rarely watch movies, they take too long, you have
to devote a couple of hours to them. Books you can read whenever you want.
What question do you wish you'd been asked? And
what was the answer?
If you could own any musician for a day, who would it be and why? Either
Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys, Man behind
Smile) or Ringo Starr. Brian Wilson I'd just like to spend a whole day
talking to, as he seems like a fascinating person. I'd love to try and write
a song with him. Very few others can write so much into a 3-minute pop song,
I want to find his secret!.
With Steve Wilson I'd just get him to teach me everything he knows about
working in the studio, and how to make a song that contains so many
different musical textures and subtleties. Something I've always tried to
do, but never been good enough to pull off. Naturally, I'd love to take some
drum lessons from Ringo Starr, and just chat with him for ages about
everything to do with The Beatles and John Lennon.
